Now in its 22nd year, Cook Medical Limerick Women’s Mini Marathon is firmly established as the premier women’s running event in Limerick and the Midwest.
Over 3000 women of all ages and abilities participate in this event at the end of September every year. In 2020, due to the COVID-19 restrictions, we’re excited to hold our first-ever virtual version of this race.
This event is synonymous with charities from all over the Midwest for fundraising. Many of the participants run, walk or jog to raise much-needed funds for their respective charities.
In 2020 all proceeds from the virtual Cook Medical Women’s Mini Marathon will go to a selection of charities. We’re delighted that this race will help these charities who are working harder than ever but are lacking many of their regular fundraising opportunities due to the pandemic.
Participants can run their 5 or 10k race over two days, Sept 26 and 27 to allow adherence to all social distancing and mass gathering rules.
This event has become a household event as women, and some men, run or walk while some push their babies in their buggies. Other family members attend on the day to support their wives, sisters, girlfriends or friends. We hope that our 2020 virtual event will continue this positive, fun and celebratory atmosphere – even if we can’t all be together on the day.
